Top 5 Places to Buy Basketball Shoes in Singapore 2023

Article by PK Ong

As we all know, Singapore is a shopping haven. There is no lack of shopping malls and shops all around our bustling island. You’ll be hard pressed to go into any town here that doesn’t have a mall standing in your face. Yet, is it easy to find and buy basketball shoes in Singapore?

To give you a headstart on your shoe hunt, we have listed for you our Top 5 Places to buy basketball shoes in Singapore. These places are ranked #1 - #5 based on their range, prices, and number of locations. Feel free to let us know if you have better suggestions!

LE Hall of Fame at Vivocity

1. Limited Edt / LE Hall of Fame
Limited Edt or LE as it’s affectionately known, has been in the local scene for over 10 years, providing not just hard-to-get sneakers (that you need to queue up or ballot for) but also the largest variety of basketball shoes in Singapore. The sports chain has a number of stores in different malls around Singapore, such as Vivocity, 313 Somerset, Queensway Shopping Centre, Wisma Atria, etc.

Limited Edt has perhaps the biggest range of basketball shoes in terms of design, colorways and sizes. They have the most complete Nike range, along with most of the big brands available in the market like Adidas, UA, New Balance, Converse and PUMA. They are one of the rare retailers that actually carry a range of kids’ size basketball shoes, so if you are looking to buy a pair for your children, you should look here. LE also carries a wide range of NBA jerseys from retro (MJ Bulls jersey, anyone?) to the newest ones (Luka, Ja, SpidaMitchell, etc), so you won’t want to miss this store if you’re into basketball!

2. Queensway Shopping Centre
The long-time established mall is known for being one of the best, if not the best, sports shopping mall in Singapore. You’ll be able to look for your basketball shoes in many different stores here. LE has a strong presence here, so you can also explore their stores as well. You can also buy basketballs and other accessories here. The good thing is about Queensway Shopping Centre is you can go around different stores to check things out. In the past, you can pop into stores and haggle the price down but nobody does that anymore in today’s market and it’s not likely that you can bargain in most stores.

3. Footlocker
The international retail giant came in just before the time when the pandemic struck, setting up stores in various neighborhood malls (Tampines) and larger malls in town (Vivocity, Orchard, Suntec, Jewel). Their flagship store that is a couple of storeys (complete with a half court at the basement) is in the heart of town at Orchard Gateway. Footlocker has a good assortment of basketball shoes instore and may have certain models that are unique to them. In terms of range, they are also somewhat comprehensive but we would say they are stronger online than instore as there are models that you can only find online than in their physical stores.

4. Sneakers Club
Started from humble beginnings in the old Shot Zone (Eunos), Sneakers Club has been known to have some basketball sneakers and brands that are not available locally. The store carries a decent range of basketball shoes so if you’d like something that may be hard to find or out of stock in the retail market, you can perhaps try looking for it here (prices may be marked up though). Check those shoes though, should you choose to buy an expensive piece as online reviews haven’t really been positive.

5. Nike Factory Store
Though they only carry the brand with the swoosh, the Nike Factory Outlet usually has a couple of basketball shoes that are out of season going for a steal. So if you’re not particular about design or colorway and just want to get a good bargain on a pair of Nikes, this would be the place to go. They have outlets in IMM, Changi City Point, etc. Don’t expect too much though. There’s usually only 1-2 shelves of basketball shoes and in limited sizes. Nice ones that happen to appear here will be snapped up very quickly as well. Some odd ones or gems may appear on the open box rack (1-2 left) at times if you’re lucky!

Besides heading down to these places, you can also shop online for your basketball shoes. Limited Edt, Footlocker and the rest of the big brands do have online stores that you can buy your kicks. It is very strange but the brand stores (Nike, adidas, PUMA, UA) don’t usually carry much (if any at all) basketball range in their physical stores. We’ve gone to far too many of the brand stores to look for a pair only to be disappointed.

As basketball shoes can vary a lot in terms of sizing and fit, we would still recommend that you head over to a physical store to try them out personally before you make a purchase. A pair of ill-fitting shoes may result in you getting injured or in the worst case scenario, your shoes may ‘explode’ like Zion’s when you make a hard cut or change direction on the court!

If you know of a place that has not been listed (or should have been listed here), do let us know in the comments section. SG Basketball has a physical store in our venue (750B Chai Chee Road, #01-02, Singapore 469002) that you can also pick up your pair of basketball shoes, so do check us out as well!
