Goodbye 2020 and Hello 2021

Phase 3 saw the return of more trainees to our daily trainings in preparation for upcoming CBL.

Phase 3 saw the return of more trainees to our daily trainings in preparation for upcoming CBL.

It is a boxing match between two heavyweight juggernauts. COVID-19 vs SG Basketball. The former landed some serious punches in the early months of Phase 1. Honestly, we were sent reeling, even down on one knee at one point. But never question the heart of a champion.

We took the hits but refused to back down. Phase 2 gave us the chance to reorganise our training programmes and academy direction. Abiding by the National safety guidelines, we resumed our daily trainings at Turf City and Under Armour Court (Chai Chee Business Park). A certain degree of normalcy resumed. We prepared our primary 6 trainees for their online direct school admission (DSA) trials and it was a resounding success. We piloted 2v2 tournaments for both public (open division) and our trainees.

In 2020, we welcomed the addition of more full time coaches, Coach Raymund and Coach Saidah, to our SG Basketball Family. We also expanded the quantity of our youthful SG ambassadors and they wasted no time in playing purposeful roles in our “In the Zone” talkshow and various social media platforms. Our SG Basketball app is finally up and running.

As we enter 2021 with Phase 3, we are still mindful of the looming shadow of our great invisible adversary. We will continue to refine our every process to bring Basketball in its purest form back to everyone. The return of the National School Games and our very own Community Basketball League (CBL) should quench the thirst for competition for all involved. However, we will never compromise on our safety protocols. Together, we can win this fight.
